Sanku-Featured Film Wins Award at World Food Forum
At the 2025 World Food Forum in Rome, our short film Hidden Hunger directed by Orit Novak and Executive Produced by Sanku CEO Felix Brooks-church received the FAO Award for Best Focus Film on Women in Agrifood Systems. The film highlights Sanku’s work and the role of fortified staple foods in improving health, opportunity, and resilience across Eastern Africa.
The documentary centers the voices of women within Sanku’s ecosystem, including millers, mothers, farmers, and community advocates who confront malnutrition while driving practical solutions in their communities. Through these stories, the film illustrates how food fortification strengthens maternal and child health while supporting local food systems.
The award recognizes the global relevance of fortification as a proven, scalable public health intervention and underscores the importance of elevating lived experience alongside technical solutions in addressing malnutrition.
