Sanku Showcases Fortification Technology at Africa Food Systems Forum

Sanku participated in the Africa Food Systems Forum 2025 Exhibition Village, where it showcased its fortification technology alongside the Fortified Whole Grain Alliance (FWGA). The Forum is one of the continent’s leading platforms for dialogue and collaboration on agriculture, nutrition, and food systems transformation, bringing together policymakers, private sector leaders, development partners, and technical experts from across Africa and beyond.

At the exhibition, Sanku presented its IoT-enabled Dosifier technology, a globally recognized innovation that enables millers to accurately dose essential micronutrients into flour during the milling process. The technology supports millers of all sizes to comply with national fortification standards while producing affordable, nutritious staple foods at scale. Sanku’s Dosifier has been deployed across Eastern Africa and plays a central role in strengthening public health outcomes by preventing micronutrient deficiencies linked to conditions such as anemia and neural tube defects, including spina bifida.

Throughout the Forum, Sanku engaged with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, agribusiness leaders, donors, and technical partners, sharing lessons from its work integrating fortification into local food systems. Discussions focused on the importance of scalable, market-based approaches that embed nutrition directly into staple food supply chains rather than relying on short-term interventions.

Sanku also hosted Ted McKinney, Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) and former United States Under Secretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, at its stand. During his visit, McKinney reviewed Sanku’s Dosifier technology and discussed its application across diverse milling contexts. He acknowledged the scale of Sanku’s deployment, noting the installation of more than 1,400 Dosifiers across Eastern Africa and the organization’s reach of over 25 million people daily with fortified flour.

The exhibition provided an opportunity to highlight how food fortification can serve as a cornerstone of resilient food systems by improving nutrition outcomes while supporting local industry. Sanku emphasized that effective fortification requires strong regulatory frameworks, reliable technology, and sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors.
