Joy Basu
Board Member
Joy Basu brings a rare blend of experience across government, business, and development to Sanku’s Board of Directors. Joy most recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, where she oversaw economics and regional affairs across Sub-Saharan Africa. Her portfolio spans trade and investment, food security, climate, energy, democracy, and commercial diplomacy. Before joining the Biden Administration, Joy served as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. In the private sector, she held leadership roles at a global alternative investment firm, where she helped build a multibillion- dollar impact investing platform and led its global food and agriculture strategy. Joy’s deep expertise in agricultural development, public-private partnerships, and systems leadership will be a tremendous asset as Sanku scales its work across the continent.
