Sanku x Nutrition International: A New Partnership for Better Nutrition in Kenya

Last week, Sanku and Nutrition International, a global organization working to improve the health and nutrition of the world’s most vulnerable people, formalized a new strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen Kenya’s national food fortification program.

Strong food fortification programs don’t happen by chance. They are built through strong partnerships.

Together, we will support maize flour millers with the tools they need to consistently produce safe, fortified flour that meets national standards. Sanku will provide its proven fortification model, including IoT-enabled Dosifiers, certified nutrient premix, real-time monitoring, and ongoing technical support. Nutrition International will strengthen food safety, quality assurance, good manufacturing practices, and government oversight capacity.

Beyond individual mills, we will also strengthen the systems that make food fortification sustainable by supporting national and county food fortification alliances, advancing policy and advocacy, expanding sustainable financing, and exploring new opportunities such as fortified school meal programs.

Every day, families across Kenya eat maize flour. Together, we’re helping ensure the flour they already buy delivers the essential nutrients they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
